With job interviews, I've had quite a lot of experience for someone my age. And I know its disconcerting applying for employment at a relatively young age.

Here's my advice, (which might be correct or might not, its based on personal experience only): Never apply by email unless the employer specifies so. Emails are impersonal, can make the applicant seem uncommitted and most importantly, are easily ignored by the employer. Instead, limit applications to via phone or in person. I find that applying for a job in person is much more effective. It puts the potential employer on the spot (they can't ignore you lol) and it makes you seem confident and self-assured, even if you actually aren't. With phone, they at least get to hear your voice. Of course, they'll most likely ask you to email a formal application or whatever, but by then, you're in they're head and they're opinion of you is most likely already positive.

Also, if you aren't already doing this, make sure you appear confident and committed. Even if you're not Mr. Confident, you can do this by making simple gestures like looking potential employers in the eye, giving a strong handshake, smiling (!!!), being the first one to greet them (don't wait for them to say "hi", take the initiative) and dressing well.

I sound like a teacher.

But that's my experiences for better or for worse.
